Our EVP collection is quite extensive but we've put only our best examples on our web site. We use both digital and standard cassette tape recorders for EVP.
There are several methods of capturing EVP. Digital and analog voice recorders are the most common - with the digital delivering a sharper recording with less background noise.
Sara Estep, who founded the AA-EVP
in 1982, developed a classification
to use for EVP's captured. The AA- EVP uses this format along with other fellow EVP Researchers. Tom and Lisa Butler are the current directors of AA-EVP and has developed a very informative online community.
Use of an external microphone with an analog recorder is highly recommended to avoid pickup of the motor mechanisms inside the recorder. When going to look at microphones, also check the frequency range of the microphone. The manufacture standard for cassette recorders is 20hz. - 20khz. and likewise with the standard cassette tape. However, most microphones these days are in the higher frequency range (50hz. or 100hz. - 100khz.). For Karaoke, these microphones are great but for capturing "EVP" activity, these high frequency microphones operate on too high of a frequency to capture a great majority of the "EVP" activity. The optimum is to use the lowest frequency microphone available, usually the (20hz. - 20khz.) is the lowest you can find and you may have to do some searching for them.

It is so clear is sounds as if someone was standing right there! The spirit was responding to Cindy's discussion about Savannah. This is Cindy's first EVP to speak in two complete sentences and also acknowledge the spirit was a ghost. | |
